 Relieving Stress and Tension in Five Minutes or Less

  • Sit up straight and close your eyes
  • Place your feet firmly on the ground and your hands on your lap
  • Take a couple of deep, cleansing breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth
  • Do a mindful body scan, relaxing every muscle as you arrive to it
  • Notice your breath as you inhale and exhale, listen to it, observe it, and count the seconds it takes you to inhale and the seconds it takes you to exhale and continue this for a few minutes until you feel relaxed
  • Open your eyes slowly and stretch
